Video: TRIVIUM Frontman Performs Acoustic Cover Of OPETH's 'Harvest'
January 28, 2013New video footage of TRIVIUM vocalist/guitarist Matt Heafy performing a solo acoustic cover version of OPETH's "Harvest" can be seen below.
Asked in an August 2012 interview with Loudwire what he likes about an acoustic performance that he doesn't get from a full-on band performance with massive amps, Heafy replied: "When TRIVIUM are playing, I can't talk as much as I would like to and I like to talk live; the guys would roll their eyes if I'm talking too much. It's nice to make it so intimate. With TRIVIUM, I never get nervous with shows no matter what kind of set it is, but I'm always excited and I feel like I kind of learned how to break that barrier that makes it feel like it's a big show. The fact that I feel like our band has been able to translate a big show feeling like that to a small club show."
Regarding whether he has thought about doing an acoustic album or tour, either solo or with TRIVIUM, Heafy said: "I haven't thought about it personally yet. I think doing more of these shows — maybe I can join Corey Taylor [SLIPKNOT, STONE SOUR] and do some songs with him. He mentioned, 'You know any songs,' and unfortunately, I don't really know anybody else's songs besides our own songs. So that's why I'm doing [the occasional acoustic show] and then hopefully I'll be ready for a duo performance some day."
TRIVIUM's new album is being produced by DISTURBED/DEVICE frontman David Draiman at a studio in Austin, Texas.
TRIVIUM's latest CD, "In Waves", sold 22,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release to land at position No. 13 on The Billboard 200 chart — the highest U.S. chart entry of the band's career.
